I’m done working for the night, but I really am enjoying having the living room to myself and listening to 1970s country music I listened to with my grandpa way back when. A lil Hank Jr. , Marty Robbins, and Dolly Tonight…… Just need pipe smoke and whiskey smell and stories about life back in the day to make it a perfect night. Its funny what you will reflect on and miss later in life, isnt it? My grandfather was a steady go-to person to talk to back when. I used to pull some crazy ass shit, he’s the only one I admitted to when he straight out asked me. I would DENY to the world, but I knew even though he would be disappointed that he would still be there.
I can’t say that about most of my family. I NEEDED help at three very serious times in my life. The only two people to stand up and help me when I needed it are dead now. There are days when I really wish they could see where I am at now, and see the shit I’ve done despite the setbacks. I think they would be shocked honestly.
Well maybe not my Aunt, she knew I could do shit with my life, she just needed to convince me that I was worth it. Once that happened, even with the huge setbacks I have kept moving forward. I fall a lot, but I get up and keep my head high and my face looking forward. I’ve been in the past, it is not the direction I’m going. Head UP, Face FORWARD…..when you fall GET BACK UP and keep moving forward. There was a time in my life when I lost EVERY PERSON AND EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE. I was doing stupid shit. I was young.
That doesn’t define who I am NOW though. The fact that I get up and keep moving is what defines me now.
I’ll never in my life again allow people to make me feel like I am less than they are. I work harder, longer and if I can BETTER to make up for the late start in life.
#1 Be the change you want to see in the world “Ghandi”
#2 Head UP, Face FORWARD…..when you fall, GET BACK UP and keep moving forward. My Aunt, “Linda Barkly”.
#3 You don’t have to be the smartest, the prettiest or the luckiest to get ahead. You just need to be willing to put in the work. My Grandfather, “Austin Coleman”
I think with just these three thoughts you can do almost anything. It’s not always easy, but like NIKE says, “Just need to do it!”.
